Duk Duk’s is not your average pea in the pod, that’s for sure. Tucked inside a converted basement beneath a couple of post-clubbing takeaways on Lancaster Road, it’s Preston’s quirkiest bistro. Duk’s raison d’etre is to give you the world on your plate. Not that that means a huge carbon foot print – far from it. As much as possible is sourced from local suppliers. All dishes are tapas, so you can savour the Mediterranean to Peru and beyond in one night without bursting (mind you, portions are generous, so order in moderation). Sundays at Duk’s are a hit with a difference - your choice of Peruvian roast (lamb, chicken, beef, duck) – which you carve yourselves - with a heaps of garlic, rosemary potato, honey roast veg, and a large jug of home-made red onion gravy from £12.50. Nice. Cuisine: World Location: 16-18 Lancaster Road, Preston, PR1 1DA [Map] |

Olive Press The Olive Press in Preston, located on Winckley Square in the town centre, is a fun and lively pizzeria. Located downstairs across from the parklands and close to the main train station, the rustic décor and easy-going atmosphere make it the perfect place for an impromptu pizza with friends or for treating the family on the weekend. The handmade pastas and stone baked pizzas are fantastic, but you could also try a dish from the char grill or brick fired oven, such as a fillet of sea bass with smoked anchovy butter and tomato and black olive salad. The Olive Press is a surefire hit with the kiddies. The ‘Little Olives’ menu allows children to design their very own pizza, with 25p from every child’s meal sold donated to ChildLine. Pond Brought to you by the same team who own Duk Tapas Restaurant, Pond is a fantastic Peruvian Hacienda style tapas lounge and wine bar on Cannon Street in Preston, only minutes from the station and Fishergate shopping centre. With comfy sofas, whiskey wine barrel tables, Spanish and Cuban music and a down-to-earth bodega-style vibe – Pond is a fantastic spot for post-shopping drinks and after work meals with friends and colleagues. Our favourite tapas dishes include the chorizo with scallops in a light sherry sauce, and the sticky blueberry steak with caramelised red onions and blueberries. To finish with, we recommend Pond's signature bowl of berries with chocolate dip and a glass of Peruvian brandy. Cuisine: Latin American Location: 37 Cannon street, Preston, PR1 3NT [Map] |
